Rachel is the Co-Owner/coach at CrossFit Yellow Rose. She has a degree in English and Secondary Education from the University of Arlington. She has been teaching High School English/Language Arts since 2010 and enjoys every minute that she gets to share her love of learning with others. Rachel grew up playing many sports including volleyball, track, gymnastics, and cheerleading, but now she is all about CrossFit. She discovered CrossFit in March of 2013 and became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer in June of 2014.
I am an Army Veteran and an analyst for Dow Chemical with a degree in Mathematics and Education from the University of Houston but my passion for fitness started when I was fairly young.
I began my fitness journey at 14 when I thought working out meant doing bench press 3 times a week. In time I began to add more muscle groups to my routine and even started running for cardio. By the time I was 20 I had evolved into a full grown gym-rat.
I even worked at the campus rec center while I was in college. I would continue to be a gym-rat until May of 2010 when I was dragged into a CrossFit gym and did the benchmark WOD Annie. This unorthodox method of exercising excited me and I was hooked! My CrossFit journey had begun and since has included becoming a CrossFit Level 1 Certificate Trainer in February of 2011, attending various specialty courses, opening a gym in 2012, and numerous physical achievements I had never thought possible. But best of all has been the relationships I have made and the joy I get from sharing my passion for CrossFit with others.
Outside of the gym you can find me at all the UH home football games in the fall, at a rock/punk/metal/indie/Texas country concert, walking my dogs Khalipa and Sissy, binge watching a TV series, or just chilling out reading a book.

Alex graduated in 2010 from Texas A&M University with a degree in Marketing. Active her whole life, but not exactly into organized sports, she discovered CrossFit in 2009 after leaving the Texas A&M Equestrian team and immediately fell in love with the community aspect and constantly changing workouts. Alex got her L1 in January 2014 and began coaching a few classes before making a complete career change in May 2014 to become a full time Personal Trainer and CrossFit Coach.
Through training her various clients she discovered a huge interest in nutrition and eagerly began working with clients on their nutrition in more depth. Alex still cites the incredible community as her favorite aspect of CrossFit, but also loves seeing members (and herself) step outside their comfort zone to accomplish something they didn’t know was possible. She firmly believes that CrossFit is scalable to all levels and loves the opportunity to show anyone what a positive experience it can be.

Parker first stumbled across CrossFit’s main site workouts in 2008, but wouldn’t actually label himself a “CrossFitter” until 2011. He joined a local affiliate and was immediately hooked by the global community encouragement felt from the wide world of CrossFitters.
“I love being able to coach people and help them do things they originally thought they could not. It’s such a joy to get to work with everyone at Yellow Rose. My goals as a coach are to make sure everyone gets better each class they take, and to make sure they have a fun time doing it.”
Parker graduated with a BA in Communication from TCU in 2007 and a JD from South Texas College of Law in 2011.
I developed a passion for fitness growing up and hiking the Rocky Mountains in southern Wyoming. I was introduced to CrossFit during my PhD work at UT Austin in 2010 by my then girlfriend (now wife!) and was immediately addicted. After years participating as an athlete I realized my desire to teach and pass along what I have learned. I became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer in January of 2015 and Level 2 Trainer in September of 2017.
My personal philosophy of CrossFit comes down to two words.
Adaptability. This is what makes CrossFit an amazingly powerful tool for fitness. When prescribed and applied properly it challenges your body to adapt and thrive in new situations and stresses.
Community. A strong community creates a supremely well-rounded level of fitness in any person and an exciting, stimulating, and supportive environment. It is my greatest joy to walk into Yellow Rose and see such a diversity of people from all paths and walks of life coming together in the spirit of health and wellness. It is the strength of our community by which we measure our success.

In choosing her career path, Jen’s primary goal was to coach, and her secondary goal was finding a career that allowed her to do that! Jennifer works in corporate wellness with a degree in Exercise Science from Ball State University and has been a CrossFit trainer since 2015. She has previously coached high school track and field, personal trained and taught group fitness classes, and helped lead community health programs.
“I decided to give CrossFit a shot in January of 2012 as part of my new year’s resolution. It was the perfect blend of community, fitness, and challenge I had been looking for. I found that accomplishing my health and fitness goals transcended my everyday life and helped me build confidence to do things I never knew I could. (P.S. I love it when my friends call me to come over and help move heavy stuff!) As a coach, I aim to find balance in creating a positive training environment with the perfect amount of push to help you work to your best abilities. In my free time, I love to be outside, drinking coffee with my husband and two lovable mutts, Butters and Dax.”
